We celebrated World Social Work Day (21st March) this year with a jam-packed week of activities covering important topics such as heritage, inclusivity, health and wellbeing.
2023’s theme was ‘Respecting diversity through joint social action’, stemming from the People’s Charter for a New Eco Social World. The day - #WSWD2023 - provided an opportunity to better understand how communities can take action that leads to powerful, inclusive social changes.
Events within NCT included an inspiring session led by Gulwali Passarlay, a renowned humanitarian refugee rights campaigner, and author of ‘The Lightless Sky: An Afghan Refugee Boy’s Journey of Escape to a New Life in Britain’, and activities focusing on exploring heritage, health MOTs, as well as sleep and wellbeing webinars.
World Social Work Day is a great opportunity for us all to reflect on why we joined the social work profession in the first place, and to acknowledge all the good work that is carried out by social workers each and every day. It was great to see our teams so engaged throughout the events – lots of enthusiasm and commitment from the workforce, as they shared their true values and dedication to their work, as well as their eagerness to enhance and improve their practice.
The week provided opportunities for both self-reflection and meaningful conversations that are being taken forward in our everyday thinking and practices to encourage continuous growth and development.
At NCT, we’re on an inspirational and empowering improvement journey. Would you like to find out more? If you are keen to speak to someone before applying for one of our social work positions, whether that is to discuss the application process, the roles in more detail, or just to find out a bit more about how we work, we'd love to hear from you.
