There is no doubt that social work is one of the most challenging yet incredibly rewarding roles out there.
If you are a passionate social worker who is looking for a new challenge, perhaps working as a Duty Assessment Social Worker in Northamptonshire could be for you. We have worked hard to develop a supportive culture where best practice flourishes, and we work together as a team – sharing the same drive to be outstanding for the people we’re here to protect.
NCT is on an exciting journey
One of the most special things about working at NCT is our culture – one of ‘kindness’ and ‘high support’, assessed by Ofsted. We don’t manage our staff from afar – our leaders are hands on when it comes to supporting our workforce to do the best job they possibly can. If you are looking to work at a place that allows you to be authentic and creative, and provides endless opportunities to learn and develop, we would encourage you to apply.
We currently have a variety of social work vacancies, a few of which being within our Duty and Assessment Team (DAAT) – the team responsible for all cases that meet the threshold for statutory services.
What would a role within the DAAT look like?
As a social worker within our DAAT, your responsibilities will revolve around caseloads, including children under Child Protection, Child in Need, and Looked After Children plans. This is a crucial role – it will include conducting visits to children and their families, completing assessments and engaging in direct safeguarding work to protect the wellbeing and safety of young people. You will also participate in strategy discussions, facilitate safety planning, conduct Section 17 Single Assessments and Section 47 enquiries, and attend Initial Child Protection conferences, as well as Child in Need meetings.
What else should I expect?
In this team, you will engage in court related work including the preparation of Section 7 and 37 reports, presenting cases to the Legal Panel, composing Public Law Outline letters, and taking part in related meetings. You will also be required to arrange suitable accommodation for children through foster carers and connected persons.
As a social worker in the DAAT, your main task will always be to investigate and assess concerns related to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. Building effective relationships with children and families, along with foster carers and partner agencies, is a fundamental aspect of this important role.
